Our trip to San Diego this year was so much fun! We decided to leave the kids this time since we took them last year and have a little pre-baby getaway with just the two of us since it was our anniversary. Brad’s work sends him there for a ESRI conference each summer, so they pay for his travel, food and stay while he is there. All we have to budget for is my travel, food and any entertainment we want to do while we are there. It is seriously so nice! He had the conference from about 9 till 3 ever day and then we got to relax and enjoy the rest of the time together! We went there a couple of days early so we could spend some time with his Family and then stayed an extra day after the conference was over to make it a nice full week.
Our hotel was so nice! And our view was amazing. While Brad worked during the day I got to enjoy the hotel, the pool and walk around all of the fun areas that were right around our hotel! We were staying in Gaslamp Quarter, so it is like the hub of all amazing food and restaurants and tons of fun shops around and seaport village right next to us.

This was the boardwalk right by our hotel that connected us to the conference center. A lot of days I’d walk over and meet up with Brad for lunch or to come see him for a bit at the conference.

This is where we met up for lunch one of the days. Food trucks would come and park on the lawns and we got to try out some good new food!

It was fun to walk around and see everything. A wife of another SRK employee at the conference and I hit it off last year while we were both staying in San Diego, so we met up during the day whenever we wanted to get out and stop being lazy in our hotels. We had a lot of fun shopping, talking and eating together. I found out once we were there that she is also pregnant, so it was fun to have similar moods and tiredness while we were there and not expect too much from each other!

On the days I didn’t feel like doing anything, I’d sit by the pool and read and relax. Even treated myself to poolside service one day, I felt so spoiled!
One of the nights we got to sneak away and make it to the temple. It was our anniversary July 15th, so we got to go and do a session where we were sealed 9 years ago. So awesome!
Brad’s Dad and grand-daughter Riley met up with us afterwards and we went to old town and ate and visited till late.
I love that where we got married looks like something out of a fairy tale. It is such a beautiful temple!
For our actual anniversary day, we decided to take a Ferry over to Coronado Island and spend the night out there eating, shopping and getting a carriage ride around the bay.

The ride over to Coronado, it was cloudy and overcast, but the temperature felt perfect for our night out.

We loved being by a little strip of beach and seeing the other side of the bay from where we ate. It was so nice and relaxing.
After we ate, we got to walk around and shop and enjoy all of this good ambiance everywhere we went.

We got to catch up with Brad’s cousin and her husband one of the nights too. We went to a movie, then got some Cheesecake Factory and went back to our hotel to eat dessert and catch up. She is also expecting and we are only about a month apart, so we were having fun with our cousin baby bumps for some pictures!
We stayed up way late talking and laughing and totally enjoyed our time together. We wish we lived closer!
Our last day there we decided we needed some beach time, so we grabbed a rental car and headed over to mission beach for a bit! Where we were staying by the bay was amazing, but there’s nothing quite like the beach with the waves!

I helped Brad take pictures while he set his phone up for a picture contest. It was some kind of Instagram entry on the life proof cases. Anyway I thought it turned out pretty good!

Our last night there, we planned a double date with the other couple there for the conference. We got to try out the Melting Pot, which was AMAZING by the way. It is a fondue restaurant with a bit of a twist. And really expensive, but so worth it! And afterwards went to a Padre’s game. They were great company and we loved our time with them. They are also LDS, they have 5 kids with the 6th on the way and are from Idaho. They are way down to earth and easy to get to know!
